Bedford Fields Workday

  • Woodhouse Cliff Leeds, England, LS6 2HF United Kingdom (map)

We will march on preparing the ground for Project Implement Groundcover by covering areas and that back of the garden with cardboard and mulch. This is to prepare the soil for spring planting of lots of lovely groundcovers that will, unsurprisingly, cover the ground. This will in turn reduce the weeding and maintenance burden of the garden and, in some case, be tasty too.

We will continue trellising our Bedfords Shed and we will start to make raised beds from what's left of the wood used for cladding. Exciting!

We will prepare the entrance area for, we hope, a noticeboard and sign in the coming months.

We'll hopefully be eating mulberries (!) from the black mulberry that's fruited for the first time this year.

We will be discussing how to create a log of ripening dates for plants so we know when plants will be ready to harvest and if there are any gaps we could fill in with new varieties of plants.

All this and more!

Please note there will be food, hooray, but it is not guaranteed vegan or gluten free. If you have a dietary requirement please email us to specify your needs.

Drop-in any time, tools, gloves, tea also provided. Please wear warm clothes you don't mind getting dirty and sturdy footwear.
